We gave it to [the doctor] and he read through it . 'I explained our wishes . once his condition was stabilised in hospital it was imperative that we take him back home . That was my dad's wish and ours.'; 'Dad [was] seriously in pain, no medication [was] given '; 'Even though we had informed [the doctor] that my father needed to be treated by [the urologist] or [the palliative care specialist], for some unearthly reason, he decided to send him to the [elderly acute admissions] ward.'; 'The ward is old, very old. Reasonable certainty of no harm. It's the standard by which poisons will be judged. EPA arrives at this by filling a theoretical "risk-cup". One hundred percent of that cup represents the maximum exposure a human can have to a poison without being adversely affected. If the cup overflows, poison uses must be cut. Also, under FQPA poisons with common modes of human toxicity will be included in the same risk-cup. That means even less space in the cup. At this point let the Author introduce you to Jon Rappaport's comments with several of his own additions: The Revolt against the Empire, Welcome to The Great Boycott, calls for a boycott against the eight biggest synthetic pesticide poison producing companies in the world, but it is much more than that. It's a boycott against THE POWER and against a way of life represented by all the gigantic multinational corporations, which every day extend their destructive control over the planet. By the time you finish reading this material you'll realize how destructive their uncontrolled power is, in detail. You'll understand more clearly why these simple stark things need to be done: 1 ; 2 ; 3 ; stop buying these corporations products; don't buy their stock on whatever exchanges they're traded; demand that others including institutions sell their stock in these companies; don't work for these corporations; find a way to personally pass on the word. Anxiety inderal dosageWhat are the best medications available for migraine prophylaxis? Beta Blockers Evidence consistently supports the use of the beta blocker propranolol Indersl ; , in migraine prophylaxis. Propranolol has been compared with placebo in about 60 trials; in data pooled from nine of these studies, the calculated responder ratio comparable to relative risk ; was 1.9 95% Confidence Interval [CI], 1.60 to 2.35 ; .3 Timolol has been compared with placebo in three trials; its effect size is comparable to propranolol.4 There is limited evidence to support the use of atenolol, the longacting preparation of metoprolol, or nadolol for migraine prevention. Adverse effects associated with beta blockers include fatigue, reduced exercise tolerance, nausea, dizziness, insomnia, and depression. In trials, these side effects were well tolerated and rarely prompted discontinuation of therapy.2 Antidepressants Amitriptyline is the only antidepressant with consistent evidence supporting its effectiveness for this use. One study involving 162 persons with migraines compared amitriptyline therapy 50 to 100 mg daily ; with placebo over four weeks, showed moderate effect size of 0.62 95% CI, 0.15 to 1.10 ; on a migraine index that included frequency and duration.4 Adverse effects of amitriptyline include drowsiness, weight gain, and anticholinergic symptoms such as dry mouth. The results from one small trial n 18 ; support the use of fluoxetine Prozac ; 10 to 40 mg per day; however, a larger trial n 57 ; showed no evidence to support the use of fluoxetine, and evidence does not support the use of the numerous other tricyclic antidepressants and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors for migraine prevention.2, 6. The evidence table Appendix D ; already states that the quality of the and echinacea. No matter which of these three methods of treatment you have for your hyperthyroidism, your physician may prescribe a class of drugs known as the beta adrenergic blocking agents that block the action of thyroid hormone on your body. They usually make you feel better within hours, even though they do not change the high levels of thyroid hormone in your blood. These drugs may be extremely helpful in slowing down your heart rate and reducing the symptoms of palpitations, shakes, and nervousness until one of the other forms of treatment has a chance to take effect. Propranolol Inderal ; was the first of these drugs to be developed. Some physicians now prefer related, but longer-acting betablocking drugs such as atenolol Tenormin ; , metoprolol Lopressor ; and nadolol Corgard ; , and Inderal-LA because of their more convenient once- or twice-a-day dosage! Tral analysis. But the combinational bands are less fortunate, they cannot take such advantage. That is why they are less touched. GeH4 has been investigated as a proper molecule to study the local mode vibrations. The ground state constants of GeH 4 were obtained by Kreiner et al. [8] and by Kagan et al. [9]. The local mode vibrational energy level structure of GeH4 was calculated by Halonen and Child using the anharmonically coupled anharmonic oscillator ACAO ; model [10, 11]. So far most attention has been concentrated on the local mode n000 ; overtones of GeH4 . While the spectra of the n000 ; states up to n have been studied [5, 6], there is no report on the combination bands except for the 2100 ; state [12], to our knowledge. It is desirable to predict the Coriolis interaction parameters of the GeH4 to help us perform the spectral analysis. In another way, the experimental determination of the 2Bz3 values in the n100 ; states is a major requirement for testing the local mode models. In this work, we report the study of the Coriolis interaction in the local mode n100 ; F2 ; combination states of GeH4 . The 2Bz3 values of the n100 ; states of GeH 4 up to are calculated by NMDD and ACAO models. The 2Bz3 value of the 3100 ; F2 ; state is obtained from experiment and compared with the calculations. Good agreement has been achieved. 2. Experimental details The sample of natural abundant GeH 4 was synthesized and puri ed by us with the procedure detailed in [6]. Before the measurement, the sample gas was initially and pilocarpine. Thyroxine Thyroxine may result in a lower than expected T3 concentration when used concomitantly with propranolol. Alcohol Alcohol, when used concomitantly with propranolol, may increase plasma levels of propranolol. Carcinogenesis, Mutagenesis, Impairment of Fertility In dietary administration studies in which mice and rats were treated with propranolol hydrochloride for up to 18 months at doses of up to 150 mg kg day, there was no evidence of drug-related tumorigenesis. On a body surface area basis, this dose in the mouse and rat is, respectively, about equal to and about twice the maximum recommended human oral daily dose MRHD ; of 640 mg propranolol hydrochloride. In a study in which both male and female rats were exposed to propranolol hydrochloride in their diets at concentrations of up to 0.05% about 50 mg kg body weight and less than the MRHD ; , from 60 days prior to mating and throughout pregnancy and lactation for two generations, there were no effects on fertility. Based on differing results from Ames Tests performed by different laboratories, there is equivocal evidence for a genotoxic effect of propranolol hydrochloride in bacteria S. typhimurium strain TA 1538 ; . Pregnancy: Pregnancy Category C In a series of reproductive and developmental toxicology studies, propranolol hydrochloride was given to rats by gavage or in the diet throughout pregnancy and lactation. At doses of 150 mg kg day, but not at doses of 80 mg kg day equivalent to the MRHD on a body surface area basis ; , treatment was associated with embryotoxicity reduced litter size and increased resorption rates ; as well as neonatal toxicity deaths ; . Propranolol hydrochloride also was administered in the feed ; to rabbits throughout pregnancy and lactation ; at doses as high as 150 mg kg day about 5 times the maximum recommended human oral daily dose ; . No evidence of embryo or neonatal toxicity was noted. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Intrauterine growth retardation, small placentas, and congenital abnormalities have been reported in neonates whose mothers received propranolol during pregnancy. Neonates whose mothers received propranolol at parturition have exhibited bradycardia, hypoglycemia, and or respiratory depression. Adequate facilities for monitoring such infants at birth should be available. Inderal should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Nursing Mothers Propranolol is excreted in human milk. Caution should be exercised when Inderal is administered to a nursing woman. Pediatric Use Safety and effectiveness of propranolol in pediatric patients have not been established. Bronchospasm and congestive heart failure have been reported coincident with the administration of propranolol therapy in pediatric patients. Geriatric Use Clinical studies of Inderal did not include sufficient numbers of subjects aged 65 and over to determine whether they respond differently from younger subjects. Other reported clinical experience has not identified differences in responses between the elderly and younger patients. In general, dose selection for an elderly patient should be cautious, usually starting at the low end of the dosing range, reflecting the greater frequency of decreased hepatic, renal, or cardiac function, and of concomitant disease or other drug therapy. ADVERSE REACTIONS The following adverse events were observed and have been reported in patients using propranolol. Cardiovascular: Bradycardia; congestive heart failure; intensification of AV block; hypotension; paresthesia of hands; thrombocytopenic purpura; arterial insufficiency, usually of the Raynaud type. Central Nervous System: Light-headedness, mental depression manifested by insomnia, lassitude, weakness, fatigue; catatonia; visual disturbances; hallucinations; vivid dreams; an acute reversible syndrome characterized by disorientation for time and place, short-term memory loss, emotional lability, slightly clouded sensorium, and decreased performance on neuropsychometrics. For immediate-release formulations, fatigue, lethargy, and vivid dreams appear dose-related. Gastrointestinal: Nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, abdominal cramping, diarrhea, constipation, mesenteric arterial thrombosis, ischemic colitis and amantadine. Hydrocortisone Cream, Ointment . NDA 21-241 Page 11 An increased risk of thromboembolic and thrombotic disease associated with the use of oral contraceptives is well established. Case control studies have found the relative risk of users compared to nonusers to be 3 for the first episode of superficial venous thrombosis, 4 to 11 for deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, and 1.5 to 6 for women with predisposing conditions for venous thromboembolic disease 2, 3, 19-24 ; . Cohort studies have shown the relative risk to be somewhat lower, about 3 for new cases and about 4.5 for new cases requiring hospitalization 25 ; . The risk of thromboembolic disease associated with oral contraceptives is not related to length of use and disappears after pill use is stopped 2 ; . A two- to four-fold increase in relative risk of post-operative thromboembolic complications has been reported with the use of oral contraceptives 9 ; . The relative risk of venous thrombosis in women who have predisposing conditions is twice that of women without such medical conditions 26 ; . If feasible, oral contraceptives should be discontinued at least four weeks prior to and for two weeks after elective surgery of a type associated with an increase in risk of thromboembolism and during and following prolonged immobilization. Since the immediate postpartum period is also associated with an increased risk of thromboembolism, oral contraceptives should be started no earlier than four weeks after delivery in women who elect not to breast feed. c. Cerebrovascular diseases Oral contraceptives have been shown to increase both the relative and attributable risks of cerebrovascular events thrombotic and hemorrhagic strokes ; , although, in general, the risk is greatest among older 35 years ; , hypertensive women who also smoke. Hypertension was found to be a risk factor for both users and nonusers, for both types of strokes, and smoking interacted to increase the risk of hemorrhagic stroke 27-29 ; . In a large study, the relative risk of thrombotic strokes has been shown to range from 3 for normotensive users to 14 for users with severe hypertension 30 ; . The relative risk of hemorrhagic stroke is reported to be 1.2 for non-smokers who used oral contraceptives, 2.6 for smokers who did not use oral contraceptives, 7.6 for smokers who used oral contraceptives, 1.8 for normotensive users and 25.7 for users with severe hypertension 30 ; . The attributable risk is also greater in older women 3 ; . d. Dose-related risk of vascular disease from oral contraceptives A positive association has been observed between the amount of estrogen and progestogen in oral contraceptives and the risk of vascular disease 31-33 ; . A decline in serum high density lipoproteins HDL ; has been reported with many progestational agents 14-16 ; . A decline in serum high density lipoproteins has been associated with an increased incidence of ischemic heart disease. Because estrogens increase HDL cholesterol, the net effect of an oral contraceptive depends on a balance achieved between doses of estrogen and progestogen and the activity of the progestogen used in the contraceptives. The activity and amount of both hormones should be considered in the choice of an oral contraceptive! Tacca leontopetaloides L. ; Kuntze Taccaceae Local Names : yabia, yabia dina Fiji masoa Samoa, Tuvalu mahoa'a Tonga masoa'a Futuna pia Niue, Tahiti, Tuamotus, Marquesas, Cook Islands, Hawaii mahoa Tokelau arakai asi Solomon Islands ; . English Name : polynesian arrowroot. Description. Coarse, stemless, perennial, tuberous herb to 1 m high. Leaves large, petiolate, the petioles transversely striated, arising from a tuber up to 8 diameter. Flowers small, bell-shaped, greenish, 6-parted, borne in a many-flowered umbel surrounded by leafy bracts and numerous long filaments, supported by an erect, hollow, transversely striated 1 m long stem arising from the tuber. Fruit a yellow, ribbed, globose berry up to 2.5 cm in diameter containing numerous longitudinally ridged seeds. Flowers and fruits between November and July. Habitat. Common on beaches and beach thickets and coastal woods with sandy soils to 250 m elevation. Distribution. Widely dispersed by early Pacific peoples as a food plant. Now widely distributed throughout most of the Pacific. Constituents1, 2. Alkaloids unidentified ; , beta-sitosterol, ceryl alcohol, taccalin. Biological Activity3. Molluscicidal activity. Traditional Uses 4. In Fiji, the inside of the root is squeezed in water and applied as a rinse to injured eyes. The starch from the tubers of the plant was used as a remedy for diarrhoea and dysentery in Hawaii and Fiji. In Cook Islands, the plant is used as a thickener in medical preparations. The Cook Islands Maoris rub the starch onto sores and burns. In Niue, crushed leaf stalks of the plant are rubbed onto bee and wasp stings and buy adalat. A blood electrification unit delivers electric current into the bloodstream. I N S The arrhythmia is induced by an antiarrhythmic drug such as digitalis orquinidine. Persists after discontinuance of the drug and correction of electrolyte imbalance. Consider INDERAL instead. Often the drug of choice, except in the presence of serious congestive heart failure. Often, too, INDERAL propranolol HCI ; abolishes supraventricular arrhythmias when either digitalis or quinidine has failed. With proper patient selection--in the absence of contraindications such as bradycardia, greater than first degree heart block, asthma, and congestive heart failure unless failure is secondary to tachyarrhythmias treatable with INDERAL serious cardiovascular and respiratory side effects are seldom encountered * Rely on it: INDERAL Alone. Inderal cureSpecifically block the actions of isoprenaline. In July 1960, propranolol Inderal ; was made by their chemists even before ICI had synthesized it. Despite repeated discussions, their senior research management saw no utility for such agents.9 Also in the same period, Bengt Abld, working in the cardiovascular group in Hssle, Gothenburg, initiated a research program to find a new antiarrhythmic drug, which, by preventing catecholamine stimulation of the heart, would reduce cardiac arrhythmias. In May 1961, a chemical program to find compounds with activities like DCI was started.10 It was only when the Dornhorst and Robinson paper on pronethalol nethalide ; 11 was published in August 1962 that the Hssle researchers found that ICI was working on the same idea and was well ahead of them. Their challenge was to develop their own patentable compound since it was clear by August 1962 that blockade of cardiac -receptors in patients with angina was efficacious. Table 11. Possible causes of vulvovaginal complaints Vaginal infection, including candidiasis yeast ; and trichomoniasis Bacterial vaginosis overgrowth of certain vaginal bacteria ; Sexually transmitted diseases Allergic reactions to chemicals in soaps, bubble baths, spermicides, condoms, feminine hygiene sprays, deodorant tampons pads Douching Irritation from tampons or birth control devices eg, diaphragm or cervical cap ; left inside the vagina too long Trauma Foreign body Skin conditions, such as eczema or lichen sclerosus Certain diseases eg, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes mellitus, lupus erythematosus ; Benign and malignant tumors Psychological causes Injury to pelvic nerve fibers, leading to persistent vulvar pain Vulvodynia Certain endocrine therapies eg, aromatase inhibitors ; Certain medications eg, antibiotics ; which contribute to candidiasis Hypoestrogenic states eg, peri- and postmenopause, premature ovarian failure ; Medically induced menopause eg, cancer treatment ; and parabasal cells compared to the characteristics of the reproductive years. Loss of estrogen at menopause also results in an increase in the vaginal pH from a healthy acidic environment to an unhealthy alkaline one, creating a more susceptible habitat for vaginal infection. In reproductive-age women, the vaginal flora are dominated by lactobacilli. In postmenopausal women, diverse flora may colonize the vagina, including pathogenic organisms commonly found in urinary tract infections. Vaginal health may progressively worsen in susceptible women. The term vaginal atrophy describes vaginal walls that are thin, pale, dry, and sometimes inflamed ie, atrophic vaginitis ; . They can exhibit small petechiae ie, pinpoint, nonraised, round, purple-red spots caused from intradermal or submucous hemorrhage ; . These changes increase the likelihood of trauma and pain. This can result in dyspareunia and or pain during a pelvic examination, as well as tears and bleeding from vaginal penetration. These effects are less likely to occur in women who experience. I haven't been taking inderal for long, but i have heard of the side effects it can cause, mostly unpleasant ones. Aluminum hydroxide gel greatly reduces intestinal absorption of propranolol. Alcohol, when used concomitantly with propranolol, may increase plasma levels of propranolol. Phenytoin, phenobarbitone, and rifampin accelerate propranolol clearance. Chlorpromazine, when used concomitantly with propranolol, results in increased plasma levels of both drugs. Antipyrine and lidocaine have reduced clearance when used concomitantly with propranolol. Thyroxine may result in a lower than expected T3 concentration when used concomitantly with propranolol. Cimetidine decreases the hepatic metabolism of propranolol, delaying elimination and increasing blood levels. Theophylline clearance is reduced when used concomitantly with propranolol. Hydrochlorothiazide Thiazide drugs may increase the responsiveness to tubocurarine. Thiazides may decrease arterial responsiveness to norepinephrine. This diminution is not sufficient to preclude effectiveness of the pressor agent for therapeutic use. Insulin requirements in diabetic patients may be increased, decreased, or unchanged. Hypokalemia may develop during concomitant use of corticosteroids or ACTH. Drug Laboratory Test Interactions Hydrochlorothiazide Thiazides may decrease serum PBI levels without signs of thyroid disturbance. Thiazides should be discontinued before carrying out tests for parathyroid function see "PRECAUTIONS--General" ; . Carcinogenesis, Mutagenesis, Impairment of Fertility Combinations of propranolol and hydrochlorothiazide have not been evaluated for carcinogenic or mutagenic potential or for potential to adversely affect fertility. Propranolol hydrochloride Inderal ; In dietary administration studies in which mice and rats were treated with propranolol for up to 18 months at doses of up to 150 mg kg day, there was no evidence of drug-related tumorigenesis. In a study in which both male and female rats were exposed to propranolol in their diets at concentrations of up to 0.05%, from 60 days prior to mating and throughout pregnancy and lactation for two generations, there were no effects on fertility. Based on differing results from Ames Tests performed by different laboratories, there is equivocal evidence for a genotoxic effect of propranolol in bacteria S.typhimurium strain TA 1538.
